We have a small cabin and this is just right size, allows for a kettle or pot of soup on top, and has a nice fire view. It also allows logs of a decent size. It burns very clean. We've make pies and roasted veggies inside -- nothing too ambitious, but it keeps a steady heat.

Cooked our first Christmas turkey in it. It did great. also provides the added heat we were looking for since we didn't want a whole house heater that would run us out of living room. My mother in-law and my mom sat near it in our new Amish bent wood rockers all Christmas day. most differently a plus for us all.
