We have been living with the Stanly Errigal for about 14 years and it's still like new! We heat the house and cook on it during heating season. It is indispensable for canning because of the large amount of heat available. The secret is all in the wood. We use soft maple or aspen spring & fall, then hard maple, hickory & beach through winter. Red oak is reserved for the coldest weather and ash for overnights to hold the coals. It's the only stove I found that is rated for 4" on the back and in our small house that makes all the difference. Heating with it vs. propane pays the property taxes and lets us keep much more comfortable.
A little more money than some of the others, but worth every penny because of the quality. Get the optional side shelf and warming oven too.
